In the Garden

This is a story about a girl and her friends, all of whom loved flowers. The story teaches lessons about the senses, the rewards of hard work, the parts of flowers, types of flowers, the beauty of variety, the joys of living, and the difficulties of coping with personal losses. Biblical scholars might also consider it to be a Christian allegory. It is written to be appreciated on many levels of understanding, which becomes evident with each successive reading. When the story is read to young children, they enjoy hearing of the fun that comes from combining exploration with play. Some of the illustrations are designed to be enjoyed as stand-alone paintings and may be appreciated for the representations of the subject matter or as colorful art. They are designed to create a sense of peace and joy for the reader.
